Baby goes fishin’ in dire straits

The cost of groceries is seriously out of control these days. Here in Hawaii, it can easily cost more than $7 for a gallon of milk, and my little family goes through a gallon of milk almost every day.

It wasn’t long ago when I wrote a story for one of my newscasts about food prices seeing their highest spike since the 1970s. The cost of wholesale food had climbed nearly 4 percent in a single month.

That was back in March.  Now a few months later, prices are even worse, and that is exactly why I present to you, my youngest son’s incredible skill at adaptation. It’s survival of the fittest at its best.

Little Aiden is a genius.

He not only managed to hide a goldfish in a place where no one else would find it, he also succeeded in remembering it was there!  Or maybe it was sheer luck that he found it more than a week after depositing it.  Either way, he found that goldfish during dire times and ate it.  [And now that I think of it, this must have been at least the 2nd goldfish he found in that seat belt buckle hole.]

And no, I did not stop him from eating the stale cracker[s].  Afterall, grocery prices are through the roof.  And if he’s found a way to sustain himself, by all means, go right ahead.
