Something to consider when considering a mini crib

Mini cribs got their name for a reason. Check out this picture I snapped tonight with my phone.

My little man is only six months old, and he’s using up all his real estate! At this rate, he’ll be out of that mini crib long before he hits his first birthday.

If you live in a small space, like we do here in Hawaii, you may be considering this as your only crib for Baby. I love this crib, but as a long-term investment, it may not be worth it.

Our first-born got the perks of being born in Colorado and living in a bigger home, so he got a full-sized crib. Here he is in his luxe sleeping spot at only a couple months older than Aiden:

I realize you can’t see the entire crib [I wasn't snapping for a blog back then!], but you can tell he has room to move. In both width and length, he has plenty of space.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my mini crib. It fits in tiny rooms, small apartments or grandma & grandpa’s house as a spare. And it looks just as good as a full-sized crib.

The mini crib fits anywhere.

Problem is, we got rid of Big Brother Jonah’s full-sized crib once word of the danger of drop-side cribsstarted surfacing. So this mini is the only thing we banked on. I’m not sure yet what we’ll do when Aiden really has to squish to sleep… But I better come up with a plan soon. He’s getting there fast!

Thanks for posting! There is very little "real" information out there on mini cribs and this is exactly what my husband and I were wondering: at what point will they outgrow it. Now I'm curious as to what was your solution? Did you end up buying another crib?

He survived in it until 14 months, and just last night we switched him out to his older brother's old toddler bed. He was definitely long enough to be switched out of the mini-crib sooner than that, but hadn't been ready for the toddler bed until recently. Good luck with your little one!
